Truffa Residence: 2015 Complete Landscape Renovation

Mrs. Truffa contacted us to re-landscape her front flower beds. She had tried Knock-out Roses as well as Gardenias and nothing was really thriving but a few plants.
She requested saving the plants that were doing well such as Daylilies, Agapanthus, Hydrangeas, Confederate Jasmine, Lime tree as well as any Gardenias that we thought we could work into the design. She had an idea of what plants she wanted to add, such as Robelinii palms and Sea Grapes as well as a budget for us to aim for.

Her house is very symmetrical so we wanted to keep the landscape the same as the architecture.

Below are before pictures of the area:

We found that after removing all the plants that were not going to be saved and the old mulch, weed fabric had been keeping some of the plants from rooting properly. Because of this, all the plants we were planning on transplanting at a later date had to be removed that day to get the weed barrier up and level the beds, reshape, and locate irrigation heads since some irrigation heads had been buried as well.

The beds were edged on either side to ensure they were equal in size so the design would be balanced as planned.

We then laid out the plants, leaving room for an additional birdbath, and got to digging!

Foundational hedges of Viburnam and Loropetalum were added with Aboricolas in the front for some color.
90% of her Agapanthus and 100% of her Daylilies were saved and transplanted in the Truffa’s new landscape.

A matching Dwarf Myer’s Lemon tree was planted on the opposite side of the stairs from the Lime tree and an additional Confederate Jasmine was added to climb on the porch banister on the opposite side from the existing vine.

We were able to stay close to her budget while providing her with her requests, color, and a landscape that complimented her home.

When Mr. & Mrs. Truffa came back from vacation they had a fresh, colorful display of color welcoming them home.
